How Guli works
Five steps from sign-up to the first conversation — and what the blue check, gifts and Premium actually mean.
Step 1. Your account
You can sign in with Telegram, a phone number or an e-mail address. Telegram is the quickest: the account is already verified and there is no password to invent.
Guli is 18+. We ask for your year of birth at sign-up and ask you to confirm you are an adult.
Step 2. Your profile
The first profile is short: name, year of birth, gender, who you are looking for, country and at least one photo. The feed opens right after that.
Everything else — city, region, occupation, height, languages, interests, what you are looking for, your view on children and faith, answers to prompts — is optional and can be filled in at any time. The fuller the profile, the better the matching.
Step 3. The feed and compatibility
The feed is not random. Every profile is scored against yours: what each of you is looking for, faith, region and country, views on children, shared interests, closeness in age and the answers to a short values test.
Each card says why we showed you this person — matching should not be a black box.
Distance is measured either from the city you entered or, with your permission, from your device's location. Others only ever see an approximate distance in kilometres, never coordinates.
Step 4. Likes and matches
Tap the heart if you like a profile, the cross if you don't. When two people like each other it becomes a match and the chat opens. Until then no one can message you — that is how unwanted messages are prevented.
If you skipped someone by accident, they come back into the feed later.
Step 5. Chatting
The chat is live: you can see whether the other person is online, whether they are typing and whether your message was read. Photos can be sent too.
If they are offline, the bot notifies them about the new message.
The blue check
A blue check means the person passed selfie verification: they sent a live photo and we compared it by hand with the pictures on their profile. It is neither automated nor mandatory, but a verified profile earns noticeably more trust.
Gifts
A gift is a stronger kind of like. Men send wine, women send a violet. The gift is visible to the recipient even without Premium and moves the profile to the top of their list.
One gift a day is free. Extra ones are bought with Telegram Stars.
Premium
Premium shows who liked you and who viewed your profile. Everything else — your profile, the feed, matches and chat — is free and stays free.
Premium is a fixed term and does not renew automatically: it simply expires and nothing is charged again. Payment goes through Telegram Stars.
Where it runs
Guli runs inside Telegram (@Guli_dat_bot) and in any browser at myguli.ge. Android and iPhone apps are in preparation.
The interface is available in Georgian, Russian and English, and you can switch language at any time.
